Congratulations to Kate, Linda and Jill! I’m hoping you’ll all want a different bag, but let me know which one you prefer and I’ll do my best to send you the one you most like 🙂 And drop me an email with you address (cuteasabutton82@hotmail.co.uk). For those of you who didn’t win, I’m in the process of preparing a tutorial so you can make your very own!

Lovely lavender bags

Today is a very sad day. It’s the last day of the holiday before I go back to school. I will miss my holiday time so very much! I’m planning a few posts about some of my holiday activities over the next couple of weeks. I’ve seen some beautiful quilting, some fantastic yarn bombing and have started (but not finished!) several projects.

The lavender bags I want to show you were whipped up this week. It was one of those situations where I’ve been friends with someone for a while, but hadn’t found out her birthday. Until Facebook told me! Her birthday was on Friday, but I knew I wouldn’t be seeing her until Sunday, giving me a day and a half to make something for her. I kind of put it to the back of my mind (for about 5 minutes) as I was supposed to be doing some planning for school. Then out of nowhere I remembered the huge bag of lavender I have, and Emma’s love for all things crochet. So I put the two together and came up with these…

Lavender bag 2

They’re super easy to make – two circles of glorious colour filled with delicious smelling lavender – simples!

Lavender bag 1

For the first two I did the same pattern of stripes on each side, but with slightly different buttons. For the third one I made a stripy side and a plain side which I embellished with some pretty flowers. (Find the flower patterns at Attic24, here (about halfway down the page) and here.)

Lavender bag 3

I’ve made three more since these – I think they’re the only project I’ve started and finished recently! And because I have three spare ones, (and because my posts have been so sporadic recently and I want to make it up to you) I’m having a super speedy giveaway – if you’d like a crochet lavender bag of your very own, leave a comment at the bottom of this post before 7.00pm GMT. I’ll pick names out of a hat and will let you know the results tomorrow 🙂

Edit: This giveaway is now closed. You can find out the winners here 🙂

Small gifts

A little while ago I found a stack of calico squares with different Christmassy words stitched onto them. I think I made them a couple of years ago and obviously got distracted before I finished making whatever it was I was planning at the time!

So I found some Christmassy looking fabric and stitched them together.

They are stuffed with lavender – not particularly Christmassy, but they smell lovely!

They are now ready to be wrapped up as gifts for a couple of people at school (I don’t think they read my blog, so I don’t think I’m giving the secret away!)

In July I…

…made a display board…

…and some buttony goodies…

…and teeny tiny bunting…

…and lavender bags for a sale that didn’t happen.

I finally finished a cable knit cushion cover.

I made a wedding banner.

I started another baby blanket…

…and a granny square blanket.

I did a whole lot of baking in quite a short space of time.

And I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at the beach with some lovely friends.

How was your month?

Sunshine on a rainy day

Yet another ‘summer’ day filled with gloom. It’s not been too rainy today, but it’s been a very grey day. Can you see the little river running down the garden path? It had only been raining for 5 minutes at this point!

Having an unexpectedly free day was lovely. Originally I was going to be running a stall at a charity event (which was cancelled due to bad weather) so hadn’t made any other plans for the day. I half thought about going shopping, but decided that it was more of a stay at home day instead. So Dad and I have been catching up on all the things that have been recorded this week (mostly Dr. Who) and I’ve had a great time crocheting away.

Now, have I told you that I’m working on (another) blanket? I don’t think I have. I started it with plans to sell it today. Obviously that hasn’t worked out, and a good thing too as it’s not finished yet! I’ve worked on it a fair bit this week (mostly whilst watching films with friends) but have run out of cream wool. Don’t you just hate when that happens?!

I almost didn’t do a repeating pattern in case I ran out of anything, but foolishly decided to do it anyway. So far I’ve already run out of the pale pink, and now the cream has come to an end too – and the turquoise is running pretty low. So I’ve had to put in an order for more (what a shame!) which will arrive next week.

And what to work on in the meantime? How about getting on with one of the other blankets in progress?

Nope, I’ve started a new one instead!

In my defence, I was at my friend’s house when I ran out of the cream wool, and didn’t have any other projects with me. So it was a matter of starting a new project or not crocheting at all – and clearly the second choice just wasn’t an option!

I decided to make a patchwork squares blanket, but with bigger squares than the one I made before.  So each square is made with 3 rounds, and each will be edged in white.

I’ve also (finally) added my lavender bags to Coriandr. This was more complicated than it should have been, as the photos were too big to load! So I took photos on a lower quality setting – and they’re still too big! I’m going to leave it for today and have a go on an even lower setting tomorrow. In the meantime, you can see the listing here (this is just for the 3 inch sachets – the bigger ones) and you can see pictures of them here, here and here.

That seems like more than enough information for one day, so I’m going to get back to my squares. Enjoy your day 🙂

Good news and bad news

I have good news and bad news.

Good news – I’ve made a few more lavender bags (and still have one or two more just waiting to be filled).

I also made some super cute teeny tiny bunting to go across the top of my display boards.

The best part of the bunting is that I used only scraps of fabric (each flag is less than 2 inches wide) and a fairly short length of ribbon.

However, the bad news is that the charity event where I was going to sell all these lovely goodies has been cancelled! It was due to be held at a local football club, with the car park on one field and all the events on the other. But we’ve had so much rain that both sides are completely waterlogged. And with more heavy rain forecast for this week the organisers took the decision to call the whole thing off. They decided that people would probably not want to come out if it was raining anyway, and there’s not much chance that things will dry out before the weekend.

So now I have loads of stock and nowhere to sell it on Saturday – perhpas it’s time to update my Coriandr shop
